In the last 10 years the number of electric water-heaters in New Zealand has increased from 6654 to 58,864, ar increase of 884 per cent., according tc the past president of the Electric Supply Authority Engineers’ Association of New Zealand (Mr W. A. Waters). Abuse of the flat rate method of supplying power for these heaters is causing the supply authorities some concern, and consideration is being given to a system of metering the heaters. Because of the great improvement in milking machines, the water-heating plant in a cow shed is often a greater load on the supply station than is the electric motor used to drive the milking plant.
