Mr and Mrs Jack Bristed, who have been spending several weeks in Sydney, have returned to Wellington. Mrs Bristed, until her marriage a short while ago, was Miss Isobel Reid, oi Dunedin.

Miss Hilda Morse, formerly of Gisborne, and now controller of all women's and morning programmes of 2UW, Sydney, has arrived at Wellington for three weeks’ holiday in New Zealand.

Mr and Mrs Peter Bonsfield, the English artist and his wife, who are touring New Zealand, are visiting Christchurch after spending several weejcs motoring in Central Otago. They are staying at Warwick House. Miss Harper Allen, Wellington, who has been the guest of her grandmother, Mrs Donald Macdonald, Edendale, leaves tomorrow to spend the weekend in Dunedin before returning home. Mrs W. L. Cunningham, Castle Downs, has returned to the country after spending a few days in town with her sister, Mrs E. C. Tapley, Dee street, Gladstone.

The official opening of the Otautau Ladies’ Bowling Club took place on Wednesday afternoon, when there was a big attendance. The green was in good order, and an enjoyable time was spent. Those present were: Mesdames C. Renowden (president), H, Smyth (secretary), W. Jamieson, E. Leckie, M.

McLean (Oreti), Buxton and Miss Buxton (Thornbury). Miss Ethel Law has recently returned to the Dominion to take up the post of National general secretary of the Young Women’s Christian Association. After a distinguished career in the teaching world, Miss Law became general secretary of the Christchurch Young Women’s Christian Association and did a, wonderfully successful work. Later she became national general secretary of the Young Women’s Christian Association of New Zealand for two years, and seven years ago she accepted a post on the staff of the National Young Women’s Christian Association of Canada. During these years the organization of training and conferences has been her special work, and her long educational experience fitted her to carry it out with great distinction. Miss Law attended the conference at Oxford recently as one of Canada’s delegates.

EUCHRE AND DANCE FUNCTION AT WRIGHTS BUSH A euchre tournament and dance was held in the Wrights Bush Hall on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs G. Taylor. The prize winners were Mrs G. Carter and Mr A. Holroyd, and the consolation prizes went to Miss E. Holroyd and Mr J. Jackson. Music for the dance was supplied by Mr I. McCallum, an extra being played by Mrs McCallum and Mr F. Smith. The master of ceremonies was Mr O. Robertson. Mr D. King, captain of the Football Club, asked Mr G. Taylor to accept a small present in appreciation of his services to the club. Mrs T. Anderson, president of the Women’s Division, made a presentation to Mrs Taylor from the members Mr and Mrs Taylor replied. Among those present were Mr and Mrs G. Taylor, Mr and Mrs A. WEDDING HARVEY-DAVIDSON The wedding was solemnized recently at First Presbyterian Church, Invercargill, of Mary McGregor, daughter of Mr Robert Davidson, Greenhills, to Andrew Roger, son of Mrs A. Harvey, Maitland. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a frock of cream lace, finishing in a long graceful train. Her veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bridesmaid, Miss Catherine Davidson, sister of the bride, wore a frock of powder-blue suede crepe flecked with silver. Joy Blakely, niece of the bride, was flower girl in a pink frock of frilled organdi. Mr David Harvey, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the ceremony the reception was held in the Tudor Lounge, where Mrs Norman Blakely, sister of the bride, and Mrs Harvey, mother of the bridegroom, received the guests. The former wore a blue costume and shoulder spray with a white hat, and the latter wore a black celanese frock with pink

trimmings, a black hat and a pink shoulder spray. For travelling the bride wore a nigger brown ensemble suit, with hat and shoes to match. Mr and Mrs A. R. Harvey’s future home will be in Maitland.
