ELECTRIC POWER BOARDS

REDUCTION SOUGHT IN BULK SUPPLY CHARGES (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 14. At the conference todaj’ of the Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities of New Zealand it was decided to ask the Government to reduce the bulk supply charges, to establish a special fund from which the loan requirements of local bodies could be met at the statutory rate of interest and to provide legislation making it possible for power boards to raise without a poll of ratepayers, loans for advances to consumers.

By 61 votes to 15 it was decided to seek a Dominion award for employees of all power board authorities. Opposition to this remit came from representatives of boards chiefly in Canterbury and Taranaki who have already secured district awards.
