GENERAL NOTES The Union Company's motor-vessel Waiana finished discharging and loading general cargo on Saturday afternoon and sailed in the evening for Dunedin. The schooner Scout arrived at 8.40 a.m. on Saturday with cased fish from Stewart Island. The schooner Britannia reached Bluff from Stewart Island on Saturday at 4.50 p.m. with a load of cased fish. From New, York, via northern ports, the Port Line vessel Port Brisbane is now due at Bluff today to complete Homeward loading. She will sail on September 22 for Wellington, Waikokopu and Auckland, and is to sail finally on October 2 for London and West Coast ports, via Montevideo. Cabled advice has been received that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina reached London on September 12. She left Auckland on August 2 for London, via Cape Hom. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Rangitata, which left Wellington on August 26. sailed from Colon on September 14. and is now due at London on September 28. The Union Steam Ship Company has received advice that the Rangitiki sailed from London on September 16. She is due to arrive at Auckland on October 20. The Awatea, which arrived at Wellington on September 13, brought transhipments ex Changte, Zealandia, Sirsa, Manoora, Marella, Aller, Zeuna, Talune, Canberra. Mooltan, Narkunda, Cathay, Katoomba, Mildura, Momba, Nieuw Zeeland, Viminale, Nellore, Kanimbla, Kyokkok Maru, Largs Bay, and Macedon. PERSONAL Captain J. C. Tuckett is in command of the Federal steamer Hertford. Captain A. H. Brown is in command of the Port Line motor-ship Port Dunedin. CARGO FOR CHINA HELD UP Because of the war between China and Japan, scores o'f cargo steamers bound from Europe to Chinese ports are not going further than Singapore, according to officers of the Union Company’s steamer Narbada, which arrived at Auckland from Calcutta and Singapore. The cargoes were being stored in the sheds on the Singapore wharves, and. as many of the vessels were each carrying between 3000 and 4000 tons of goods, the sheds were rapidly filling at tire time of the Narbada’s departure. The ships were of all nationalities.
