NO NOTICE TAKEN OF WARNINGS

SMOKING AT WRESTLING BOUT

(Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, September 17. “This case is the result of defendant’s failure to heed warnings to stop smoking during a wrestling bout in the Town Hall on a recent Saturday,” said Sub-Inspector Fox in the Magistrate’s Court when Kenneth Malcolm McDonald was charged with this offence. He pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given that defendant was warned three times by a fireman and twice by a constable to stop smoking inside the hall. When spoken to a third time by a constable defendant became abusive, it was stated, and gave an incorrect name.

Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M.. imposed a fine of 10/- with costs £2 9/-.
