CIVIL ENGINEERS’ SOCIETY

(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 16. A special general meeting of the Society of Civil Engineers last night was held to change the name to New Zealand Institution of Engineers. The matter was submitted to branches iollowing the annual meeting at Christchurch and the branches in every case favoured the change. A referendum was held and 80 per cent, of valid votes were in favour. It is now confidently hoped that the engineers who held aloot from the opinion that they could not claim to be civil engineers will now join up with the institution.
