THE WEATHER MAINLY FAIR TO FINE
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, September 15. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland as issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Light to fresh south-west to southerly winds. Weather for the most part fair to fine and cool. Some sharp frosts probable inland. Seas rather rough, but moderating. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather fine in the western districts of the South Island, elsewhere changeable, with passing showers in many places, but an improvement probable almost generally by Thursday morning. Temperatures cold, with many frosts. General Situation.—A depression is still centred near the Chatham. Islands but is moving eastwards, while an anticyclone is approaching from the Tasman Sea. Winds.—Moderate to strong southwesterly to southerly, of gale force at times on parts of the east coast and about Cook Strait, but decreasing tomorrow. , . Seas—New Zealand waters, rough north of Farewell Spit and south of East Cape, and rather rough at places north of East Cape, but decreasing shortly; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh, but decreasing, southerly winds. Seas moderate with a considerable, but decreasing, swell. _
