ART OF TABLE TENNIS

Articles By M. Istvan

Kelen

PUBLICATION IN THE SOUTHLAND TIMES

The strokes and technique of table tennis will be explained by the brilliant Hungarian player, M. Istvan Kelen, in a series cf four special articles he has written for The Southland Times.

These articles will be printed on the sports page of The Southland Times on the next two Saturdays and Wednesdays, starting on Saturday next, September 18, and concluding on Wednesday, September 29. M. Kelen who, with M. Miklos Szabados, gave a brilliant exhibition of the game at the Victoria Hall last night, has held two world titles and has four times been runner-up for world titles. In London in 1930-31 he won both the men’s championship singles and the men’s championship doubles. He holds three Budapest championships and has a brilliant record in Continental tournaments. Table tennis in Southland has enjoyed greater popularity this winter than ever before, and no doubt there will be many players and beginners who can profit by the expert instructional advice that M. Kelen is in a position to give.
