In Demand.— Rabbitskins appear to be at a premium at present. Messrs Wilson, Taine and Co. announce that they are prepared to give extreme prices for prime winter skins up to the end of this month, as they have to fill a large order by ship. Yet Another.— For some days past it has been freely stated that Mr J. W. Mitchell was being urged to allow himself to be put on nomination as a candidate for the Invercargill electorate. This morning Mr Mitchell announces that he will address the electors in the theatre on Monday next. Important.— lt is well known that a custom prevails of charging the parents of children attending the State schools a quarterly fee for stationery, etc. In some cases the fee is collected and the stationery supplied by the committees, but in others, especially in country cases, both duties are performed by the teachers. A case came before the R.M. at Invercargill last week in which a teacher sued for six shillings due by a parent under this head, but the Magistrate has held that the amount is not recoverable.
