DOMINION LOTTERIES URGED
ATTENTION DRAWN TO MONEY LEAVING NEW ZEALAND (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 15. In the course of his reply to a sports deputation today the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) said that since he had held the portfolio of Internal Affairs he did not suppose a week had passed, without finding among his daily mail letters from many sources drawing attention to the amount of money leaving New Zealand for overseas lotteries and urging that similar sweeps and lotteries should be run in this country. The Minister said the questions raised in voluminous correspondence were not for him to decide, but he knew he could use officially to some advantage for tree planting and the work for physical fitness some of the profits resulting from one or two loteries in other countries.
