BIG DEAL IN .CITY PROPERTY

PURCHASE IN DUNEDIN (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, September 5. One of the biggest property deals in the main business section of the city for some time has been concluded between the Bank of New South Wales and Vernon Smith, Ltd. The bank has purchased the block of buildings at the comer of George street and Moray Place in which the firm has carried on a well-known ironmongery business for some years past, and within a few weeks will open a new branch to be known as the George street branch. The new branch will occupy only a portion of the buildings in the immediate future, but more extensive changes will probably be made later on. The business of Vernon Smith, however, will be carried on as at present for the next six months.
