ANNUAL TOURNAMENT CONTINUED INTERESTING MATCHES The Southland Table Tennis Association’s annual tournament was continued last evening, women’s A and B grade and men’s A and B grade doubles handicaps being played. Some interesting matches were played during the evening. . The tournament will be continued this evening, when the combined championships and handicaps will be played. The results were; — MEN’S HANDICAP DOUBLES A GRADE First round.—Harris and Wilson (plus 5) beat Strang and Uttley (plus 1) 31-28; Semmens and Spence (plus 10) beat Brew and Hannan (plus 1) 31-28; Boyer and Hollander (plus 7) beat Robson and Croad (plus 3) 33-31; Louden and Bray (minus 5) beat Twemlow and Dell (plus 10) 31-25; Mcßride and Breen (minus 1) beat Larsen and Nesbit (plus 2) 33-31. Final.—Mrs Routledge and Miss Dixon beat Mrs Fisher and Miss Hefford 31-24. WRESTLING BLOMFIELD BEATS WOODS (United Press Association) GREYMOUTH, August 25. Willing wrestling characterized the bout between “Lofty” Blomfield and Joe Woods tonight, Blomfield being awarded the decision on a foul in the seventh round. Blomfield secured a hold with an octopus clamp, following a series of elbow jolts in the third round. Woods equalized in the fifth round with a dump and a body press. The seventh round was particularly willing, both elbow jolting freely. Woods was disqualified for punching. The decision met with a mixed reception by the packed house.
