PACIFIC SHIPPING AGREEMENT

AUSTRALIAN ACCEPTANCE OF PROVISIONS CANBERRA, August 24. The Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons), in the House of Representatives announced that the New Zealand, British, Canadian and Australian governments were considering the terms of _ the agreement for assistance to British shipping in the Pacific. Mr Lyons said that all the outstanding features of the four-party agreement, which provided for the construction of two new liners, had been accepted by the Commonwealth. It was hoped notice of acceptance by the other governments would be received within a few days. A Bill to authorize the Commonwealth Government to enter into the agreement would be introduced during the present session and it was expected that the agreement would be signed at an early date. a
