UNCLE JIM WINS STEEPLECHASE SALIENT KNIGHT SCORES (United Press Association) WAIMATE, July 17. The Waimate Hunt Club’s steeplechase race meeting was held in fine but overcast weather. The attendance was good and the track in good order. The totalizator handled £5613 10/against £4248 10/- last year. Results:— AMATEUR CUP STEEPLECHASE, £3O. About two miles and a-quarter. 1 Waikari, 11.8 (Mr B. Thomas) 1 5 Ariti, 11.0 (Mr R. Westenra) 2 2 Lord Reading, 11.0 (Mr W. Westenra) 3 Also started: 6 Le Chicot 11.2, 3 Nightwind 11.0, 4 Macailfein 11.0. A furlong both ways. Time, 4.54. STUDHOLME HURDLES, £6O. One mile and five furlongs. 3 Sunny Comet, 9.0 (F. It was a great race and the best finish ever seen in this event. First Spec finished fourth. Night Parade and Bonny Buff were bracketed on the totalizator.
