GOOD NEW ZEALAND RECOVERY LOWRY AND DONNELLY IN SOUND PARTNERSHIP (Special to the United Press Association) SUNDERLAND, July 15. The weather was dull and cold for the concluding day, the attendance being about 2000. _ ' . Durham compiled a good first innings score. Townsend, the former Oxford Blue, who toured Egypt and India with English teams, played a really fine innings, passing the century mark unbeaten. His score included 21 fours and one six. New Zealand lost five wickets for 41 runs, mainly owing to the fine lefthand fast bowling of Herbert, of Durham University. Lowry and Donnelly recovered the position with a bright, sound partnership which realized 90. The declaration left the County an hour and a-half in which to bat. With Roberts available the attack was stronger than in the first innings. Durham played out time despite good length bowling by Lamason and Hadlee, the game being drawn.
