PSYCHIC OFFERS HOPE
“FLYERS ALIVE ON ISLAND” HUSBAND MAINTAINS RADIO VIGIL (United Press, Assn—Telegraph Copyright) (Received July 16, 11.30 p.m.) HONOLULU, July 16. The Lexington’s planes returned after three and a-half hours battling with rain squalls. The search for Mrs Amelia Eashart Putnam and Captain F. C. Noonan will be continued tomorrow. . A message from Seattle says a woman psychic, Gene Dennis, a girlhood neighbour of Mrs Putnam, said the flyers are alive on a South Sea island and will be rescued, possibly at the weekend, by a fishing boat. She added that Mr Putnam had appealed for her assistance and sent a pair of Mrs Putnam’s stockings and Captain Noonan’s handkerchief to aid investigations. Miss Dennis is noted for her accuracy of her predictions including political events. She forecast the Derby winner in 1934.
Mr Putnam has not surrendered hope and is maintaining a radio vigil. He said: “Amelia will come through.” A Washington message states that the Secretary of State, Mr Cordell Hull, sent a message to Japan and New Zealand expressing appreciation of sympathy and offers of assistance in the search for Mrs Putnam.
