NORTHERN DISTRICT MEETING OF SUB-UNION The monthly meeting of the Northern District Rugby Football SubUnion was held at Balbour recently. Mr W. Johnston (Lumsden) presided. The secretary was instructed to .write and congratulate the Western District Sub-Union on winning the Sports Trust Cup match. A letter was received from the secretary of the Balfour Club about the expenses of the Athol v. Balfour game. No action was taken. It was decided to award the match to Balfour. Mr Collins, manager of the Northern team against Western for the Sports Trust Cup match submitted a report. Mr Sansen reported on the junior representative match with Central. The secretary was instructed to write to Che Eastern Sub-Union. and suggest that Northern and a junior team go to Gore to play as a curtain-raiser for the Eastern match on August 21. It was decided to ask the Eastern SubUnion to help defray expenses for this match. The following transfers were granted: —C. Grieve, from Mossburn to Lumsden; E. Soper, from Albion to Country Pirates; I. Sutherland, from Lumsden to Country Pirates; G. Davis, from Mataura to Balfour. The draw for the 'black and white caps is as follows to be played on August 14:— Country Pirates v. Mossbum, at Mossbum; Lumsden v. Balfour, at Lumsden. The final to be played at Balfour. The secretary was instructed to write to the Lake County, Vincent and West Otago Sub-Unions to suggest suitable dates for representative games with Northern.
