Charges of stealing a copper boiler, valued at 17/6, against William George Liddell and Norman McKenzie have been dismissed by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M. The case was reheard recently. It was first heard on December 18,1936 when defendants were both convicted and fined £2. Defendants applied to have the fines increased in order that they might have the right of appeal. The fines were increased to £5 1/each and Mr J. Tait, on behalf of McKenzie, subsequently applied for a rehearing, which was granted by the Magistrate.
