MOVIE CAMERA EQUIPMENT AT WELLINGTON COLLEGE (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 15. Three hundred parents of boys at Wellington College were guests in the college gymnasium last night, when a demonstration was given of movie camera equipment provided for educational purposes. Towards the end of last year the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) made a grant of £lOO and with this a 16 mm. film and cound projector was purchased and efforts were made by the head master, Mr W. A. Armour, and the staff to raise money to operate the equipment exclusive of the £lOO grant. A sum of £4OO has been raised and expended in the purchase of a 35 mm. projector for sound and silent films. By this .were shown two travelogues, a sporting picture and an educational, “Life Cycle of the Plant.” The apparatus evoked much praise. The equipment includes a fire-proof box and furnishings and probably makes the school the bestequipped in New Zealand and perhaps in Australia. Mr Armour says what is now wanted is a central film library from which schools could purchase the small machine to be used for classroom lessons and the other for general educational purposes.
