WRESTLING SPELLMAN BEATS McINTYRE (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 26. Battering Don Mclntyre with a series of flying tackles John Spellman gained a fall with a press in the sixth round to win the bout at Hawera tonight. The match was characterized by solid, honest toiling rather than by spectacular incidents. KIRILINKO DRAWS WITH STEIN (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. May 26. Matros Kirilinko, 16st 61b. drew with Sam Stein, 16st 41b, in a fast, spectacular and clever bout tonight before a record attendance. Until the seventh round neither man had gained a fall but, in that round, Kirilinko threw Stein with two slams from headlocks and two backloop slams and took an easy fall with a body press. The last round lasted only a few seconds. Kirilinko attempted to repeat the performance, but Stein repulsed him and, with four flying tackles, put the Russian into a position from which an easy fall could be taken. RUMBERG BEATS RICHARDS (United Press Association) WANGANUI, May 26. In a disappointing bout tonight Hal Rumberg beat Ray Richards in the sixth round by two falls to one. Rumberg secured the first fall in the third round with a body press, following a succession of flying tackles. Rumberg equalized with a fall in the fifth round following a flying body scissors off the ropes and secured the deciding fall in the next round with a body press after weakening his opponent with five Irish whips.
