SKELETON FOUND IN SLUICING CLAIM

BULLET HOLE IN SKULL The skeleton of a slimly-built male, sft 9in in height and between 50 and 55 years of age, was discovered in a sluicing claim at Round Hill, owned by Smith Brothers, on Saturday afternoon. Sluicing had been carried out against a face 40 feet high and on Friday a skull was found in the water-race. Next day the skeleton was discovered on a ledge of the face. There Was a bullet hole in the skull above the left eye and a .22 calibre bullet was .recovered. It is believed that death occurred from 10 to 15 years ago. A pencil stub, which was engraved with the words “Found in a packet of Unity Tea,” was found alongside the skeleton. A pair of boots was found in a surprisingly well-preserved state.
