THE ADVENTURES OF MICHAEL
Mike tries to make his other friends go merry-making, too, And first he visits Celia Cow “I’ve far too much to do,” Poor Celia answers with a sigh; “for “ have made a rule To get the children’s darning done e’er they return to school.”
Poor Michael visits Postman Goat, but finds him sung in bed With poultices upon his feet and wet cloths round his head. "Oh goodness! What is wrong?” Mike cries. Says Postman with a wail, “I’ve got sore feet from carrying the heavy Christmas Mail!”
Next Michael visits Herbert, who is working hard as well Beside his little cobbling bench; he’s making shoes to sell. “You see, dear Michael,” he explains, “I sleep the Winter through, And so when Summer time is here I’ve lots of work to do.”
“Oh dear! Oh dear!” Poor Michael Says, and sigh' most dismally, “I’ll have to stay in Timaru. Of course there’s still the sea. I’ll have a bathe at once,” says Mike, and goes down to the Bay, And soon with other animal he’s merrily at play.
