FIELDS FOR TODAY PROSPECTS REVIEWED The annual meeting of the Otautau I Racing Club which was postponed last month will be held today. Some riding engagements are: G. Barclay, Red Treasure, King Willow, British Star; E. Baker, Amelita, Corban, Orderwood; C. Humphries, Double Shot, Western Song; H. Topsy Wood raced well at Riverton and will command support. Golden Song has been fairly consistent and Bow Street is a likely improver. Ashaway despite his weight will be fancied, but it is doubtful if he can give Amelita five pounds. F. W. Ellis has the mare in good order. Double Shot is galloping particularly well, but the final dash may find him out. King Willow stays well, but the favourites may be Amelita Ashaway 2.0 p.m. RINGWAY HACK HANDICAP, £5O. Seven furlongs. Trisox 10 6 Hunting Go 9 11 Black Banner 10 5 Possum 9 6 Miss Winston 10 1 Calamure 9 0 Shillelagh Wood 9 12
The Otautau Steeplechase has drawn a rather useful lot of jumpers and it promises to be a fine race. Trisox is entitled to respect and Black Banner’s form at Riverton was most impressive. Miss Winston is likely to be an improved mare, and so is Shillelagh Wood. Possum will have a following and Hunting Go will be having his first outing over the big timber. The best backed may be Shillelagh Wood Black Banner Miss Winston 3.10 p.m. BAYSWATER SADDLE TROT, £65. Class 3.43. One mile and a-half.
