BOXING

YOUNG GILDO TO ARRIVE THIS EVENING Young Gildo, who will meet Billy Aitken at Invercargill next Wednesday night, will arrive by the express tonight. He is accompanied by Billy Martin, the Australian welterweight Young Gildo has beaten Al Stock and Jarvis, the New Zealand lightweight champion, and last Thursday he outpointed Archie Hughes in a contest at Hamilton. At present he is fighting at the top of his form. Aitken is stated to be the outstanding fighter among the lighter boxers. He is a rugged determined fighter, who possesses a punch and is always anxious to mix it. Aitken, who is being handled by Archie Leckie, jun., is working out each evening at Kellys gymnasium, Dee street, between seven o’clock and nine o’clock.
