Victor Hannah, who pleaded guilty to a charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker, was fined £3O in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The police stated that me accused sat in a car on Maxwell’s line while the trots were in progress on Saturday and accepted bets. —Press Association. Edward Stanley Bettridge, aged 25 years, a wire worker, was fined £5 and his licence was cancelled for nine months in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington yesterday for being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-cycle in the city on April 17.—Press Association.
