Roxburgh EXPORTS OF FRUIT

A total of 25,049 cases of apples were shifted by the Wairangi which loaded ait Port Chalmers last week.

This number was made up as fol-, lows:—Roxburgh, 5069 cases; Ettrick, 14,887 cases; Alexandre, 1910 cases; Beaumont and Taieri, 3183 cases. The. chief varieties of apples in the shipment were: Delicious, Jonathan’s and Cleopatra’s. Shippers at Roxburgh have completed their quotas for the Port Gisborne which left for England on April 8, and are now loading for the Hertford’s shipment which departs on April 19. With the picking of Lady Palmerston and Gold Queen peaches—which are now being harvested, —a successful stone fruit season is nearing its end, Prices tiiroughout the season have been remarkably good and the crop has been heavier than anticipated. Personal Mr A. Wilson who has been appointed postmaster at Bluff, left to begin duties in Southland’s port. He was accompanied by Mrs Wilson and their son Master Gilmour Wilson. They will be much missed by a wide circle of friends in the Roxburgh district where they hgve been very popular.
