OBITUARY

MR GEORGE MACDONALD The death occurred recently at a private hospital in Oamaru of Mr George Charles Macdonald. Mr Macdonald was born a; Whare Flat, where he received his early education, passing on to Dunedin, where, after a period in the Dunedin Training College, he entered the teaching profession. He taught at Albany Street School (Dunedin), the Hokitika District High School, Pine Bush, Nightcaps, Mataura Island, and Pukerau schools. He was stationed at Pukerau for 16 years, after which he went to Windsor (North Otago) as head teacher, and after spending eight years there he retired and went to Awamoa, Oamaru, to live. He always took a deep in-

terest in the affairs of the Church, and was an elder of Columba Church, Oamaru. He was also a member of the Awamoa Bowling Club. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Annie Golden, of Pine Bush, a son, Mr George Macdonald (Timaru), three daughters, Mrs W. A. Wylie (Seaward Downs), Misses Mary and Jean Macdonald (Oamaru), and two brothers and one sister. The services at the house and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Lawson Marsh and the Rev. Adams.
