FAILURE OF WATER SUPPLY

INCONVENIENCE CAUSED TO HOSPITAL (United Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, April 5. The water supply failed unexpectedly yesterday in parts of the borough because of some 10 feet of the race which feeds water to the reservoir giving way, allowing the supply to run wild. Before the damage to the race became known the water in the reservoir had been greatly diminished and in some places in the higher levels water was completely cut off. It was some hours until the damage to the race was repaired and the supply restored. Much inconvenience was caused, the public hospital being one place affected. Here, after all preparations had been made, an operation on a patient had to be postponed. Water was carted in milk cans from the Mangatera stream to enable the hospital to carry on.
