GENERAL NOTES The Tamatea made her usual mid-weekly run to Stewart Island yesterday, leaving Bluff at 10.15 a.m. and returning at 4.45 pan. The Karetu finished working late last night and sailed shortly after 11 pan. for Dimedin. The Union Steam Ship Company has been advised that the Rotorua sailed from Colon on March 28. Advice has been received by the Union Steam Ship Company that the Remuera arrived at London on March 28. Henderson and Co., advise that the Port Gisborne may be expected at »Bluff tomorrow. Cabled advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Hororata, en route from Glasgow to Wa*nganui in ballast, cleared Balboa last week. She is due at Wanganui on April 12 to commence her Homeward loading to the agency of the Federal Company. The Waitaki, replacing the Marama after her next voyage to Wellington, is to leave Wellington on April 8, Lyttelton on April 9,. Dunedin on April 10 and Bluff on April 12 for Melbourne. She will leave Melbourne again on April 21 for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. LARGEST CABLE SHIP SOLD The largest cable ship in tne world, the Dominia, has been sold by the Telegraph Construction and Maintenance Company to the Soviet Government. She is to be used as an ordinary cargo ship. Built in 1926, the Dominia was designed for the laying of the 3467 miles of Pacific cable between Vancouver and Fanning Island. With four large cable tanks she could carry 4000 miles of cable. Since the laying of the Van-couver-Fanning Island cable, the longest submarine cable in the world, the Dominia has been used both for cable laying and repair work in the Atlantic.
