MANY SPORTING ATTRACTIONS
EASTER HOLIDAY PERIOD ALL TASTES CATERED FOR For sporting enthusiasts the Easter holiday period this year provides an abundance of attractions. . Golfers, bowlers, race-goers and those interested in Rugby and Association football are all well catered for, and the weather so far has permitted the various sporting events to be decided under the best possible conditions. On Saturday thousands attended the first day of the Riverton races, and those who were left in the city had their choice of attending the Rugby football match between Invercargill and Taieri at Rugby Park the soccer match between Thistle (Invercargill) and Maori Hill (Dunedin) at the show grounds, the Southland Easter bowls pairs tournament or the Southland golf championships at Otatara. The detailed list of attractions for the remainder of the holiday period is as follows:— Today Riverton Races (second day). Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting (first day). Bowls—Waikiwi Club’s annual rink tournament. Athletics—Waikaia sports. Beaumont Races. Southland Golf Championships. Tuesday Riverton Races (third day). Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting (second day).
