SYDNEY CLERK NOW A BARONET

GRANDSON OF VICTORIAN NOVELIST SYDNEY, February 23. A seventeenth century English baronetcy has passed to a Sydney bank clerk, Mr Frederick Trollope, grandson of the Victorian novelist, Anthony Trollope. He becomes fourteenth Baronet of Casewick. The actual estate associated with the baronetcy is small. It is unlikely that the title, Sir Frederick Farrand Trollope, Bart., will be used in Sydney. The previous holder was an elderly man, Sir Arthur Trollope, who succeeded to the baronetcy in 1935. Asked if he intended to accept the title, Mr Trollope replied: “That question does not arise. The title simply passes down.” The new baronet is chief security clerk at the Commercial Banking Company, of Sydney, Ltd. Originally the title was a barony, which became extinct when Lord Kestevan was killed during the war. He had no direct heirs, and only the baronetcy passed down. The title was created in 1642. • Mr Trollope’s succession depends on whether his elder brother, who died in Hong Kong last year, left any male issue. It is know that the brother married late in life, but it is not yet known whether he had any children. The Sydney bank official is not married.
