“SLOW CURTAIN"

To The Editor Sir, —At the Limehills Women’s Institute’s birthday party on Tuesday evening, toe above play was staged. Much to the disgust of the players and audience, toe hall curtain put up its usual performance of misbehaviour at the critical moment and kept everybody in suspense for 20 minutes. I understand this curtain has been a source of annoyance at local concerts and to others having to use it ever since the hall was built. Now it is quite evident that members of toe Hall Committee have seldom had occasion to use it, for I am sure they would not tolerate it. When the hall is engaged for functions and a fair price paid for it one would expect better service. It would be much cheaper for toe Hall Committee to supply a workable curtain than an engineer to work the present one.—Yours' etc., TIRED OF WAITING. March 18, 1937.
