NO CONFERENCE THIS YEAR
SOUTH ISLAND PROGRESS LEAGUES
There will be no conference of South Island progress leagues this year. It was originally decided that the conference should be held in Invercargill, but a letter from the organizing body, the Canterbury Progress League, to the Southland Progress League stated that the majority of leagues were against holding a conference this year. The decision was accepted by the Southland league last night, but it was decided to request that if the conference be held next year, Invercargill should remain the place of meeting. Appreciative reference was made by the meeting to the quality of the advertising campaign arranged for Otago and Southland by the publicity manager of the New Zealand Railways Department. Members stated that a thoroughly good job had been done, and decided to congratulate the officers responsible on their success. There were present: Messrs D. J. Wesney (in the chair), C. S. Longuet, F. Trapski, W. G. Tait, A. Hamilton, T. J. Boyce and H. L. Mair and Dr J. G. Macdonald.
