ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES

GIRL’S DEATH IN BATHS (United Press Association) OAMARU, March 5. A girl named Myrtle Frame, aged 16 years, a daughter of George Samuel Frame, of Eden street, Oamaru, died in the Oamaru municipal baths about 3 o’clock this afternoon. She was a strong and experienced swimmer and before entering the water, appeared to be in her usual good health. However, on diving into the deep end she failed to come to the surface. Noticing the undue length of time she had been under the water, June Cradock dived in and brought her to the surface. Artificial respiration was applied immediately, and continued on their arrival by Doctors Butler and Fitzgerald, but without avail. FALL FROM POWER POLE (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 5. When he was working for the Auckland Electric Power Board on a power pole James McDonald, aged 45 years, a married man of Epsom, fell and fractured his skull. He died later. CAR OVERTURNS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 5. G. Round, of Ridder’s Crescent, Petone, a panel beater, is in a grave condition from head injuries through the overturning of a car on the Hutt road. L. C. Adams, aged 24 years, a striker at the Hutt Railway Workshops, to whom he was giving a lift, was also injured. The car apparently went into a skid on a bend a mile south of Petone.
