VICTORIAN FASHIONS

The leg-of-mutton sleeve certainly seems to have staged a successful “come-'back.” It is being featured by many of the new frocks and coats and jackets. Autumn dresses for town wear are made of subdued speckled tweeds cut with leg-of-mutton sleeves and enlivened by gay velvet scarves. Sometimes these frocks are accompanied by sleeveless boleros of shaved lamb, which are considered immensely smart. But smarter still are the new short boots, reminiscent of Victorian grandmothers, which have been designed for winter wear. They are made of soft leathers and are a distinctively unexpected revival, although we are assured that they will be an eminently fashionable one.
