MILNE AnET CHOYCE LIMITED INTERIM DIVIDEND DECLARED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 4. Milne and Choyce, Limited, have declared an interim dividend at the rate of 4 per cent, a year on ordinary shares and debenture stock for the half-year ended January 31. Distribution at the rate of 6 per cent, a year will be made on preference shares and at the rate of 7 per cent, a year on B preference shares. The dividends are at unchanged rates.

MINING RETURNS MATAKI (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 4. The Mataki return for the four weeks ended February 25 was 2390 z Idwt 15grs for 346 hours’ work and 73,000 yards dredged. WINTON STOCK SALE ¥ VALUES FIRM At the fortnightly stock sale at Winton yesterday 11,000 sheep were yarded. Prices were firm throughout with the exception of those paid for store lambs which eased from 1/6 to 2/- a head on the previous sale. For all classes of young sheep there was a keen inquiry and the whole of the yarding was cleared at auction. Best two-tooth ewes made 44/6, top price? good 39/- to 42/-, smaller 33/- to 36/-. A line of small four-tooth ewes made 36/-, and a big line of station ewes brought 33/6, while a line of sound-mouth paddock ewes made 33/9. Ewe lambs brought from 24/- to 29/-, good rape lambs to 21/6, medium 16/- to 18/- and smaller 14/- to 15/6.

Best sound-mouth ewes brought 32/— to 34/6, medium 28/- to 31/-, good fullmouth ewes £1 for £1 5/6, full and failing mouth ewes 16/- to £l, poorer conditioned 10/-to ,14/-. Two-tooth and four-tooth wethers from 23/- to 25/-, smaller £1 to 21/6.

In the fat sheep section ewes predominated. Best butchers’ ewes made from 18/- to 19/6, good freezers 15/to 17/-, butchers’ wethers 28/- to 29/3, lighter 25/- to 28/-. Freezing lambs sold well up to schedule rates. The entry of cattle comprised 25 head. Fat cows made from £4 to £5 15/-, fat heifers £5 5/-, empty cows £2 10/-. There was a small entry of dairy cows which met with a poor inquiry.
