KING’S LANCER WINS CUP (United Press Association) HASTINGS, March 4. The Napier Park races opened today in fine weather. The course was in splendid order. The totalizator handled £5626 as against £4052 10/- last year. The results were:—

Also started—2 Hamarin 8.2, 4 Parry 7.7. Won by three lengths, a head between second and third. Time, 1.38.
SAPLING STAKES, £lOO. (Five furlongs).—3 Son and Heir, 8.1 (M. Gilmour) 1; 2 Screen Star, 8.2 2; 1 Only One, 8.5 3. , „ Also started.—lo Star Lad 7.12, 9 Golden Memory 7.12, 6 Mahutai 7.12, 5 Airini 7.11, 8 Etzel 7.9, 4 Day Cloak 7.9, 7 Tullamore 7.7. Won by two lengths, a neck between second and third.
NAPIER CUP HANDICAP, £215. (One and a-quarter miles). —1 King’s Lancer 8.8 (P. Atkins) 1; 5 Soho 8.6, 2; 2 Gay Hunter 9.4, 3.
Also started.—4 Lucullus Lad 8.10, 3 Blue Garter 8.8, 6 Black Fox 7.7, 7 Maahanui 7.7. Won by three lengths, three lengths and a-half between second and third. Time, 2.7 4-5. MAIDEN SCURRY, £6O. Won by three lengths, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.12 4-5.
AUTUMN HANDICAP, £l3O. (Seven furlongs).—3 Pennycomequick 7.12 (J. Kellett) 1; 1 Sir Nigel 8.6, 2; 2 Passion Flower 9.0, 3. Also started.—4 Lavina 8.10. Won by one length, a head between second and third.
ESK HACK HANDICAP, £lOO. (Six furlongs).—l Tycoon 8.13 (H. Young) 1; 2 Royal Minstrel 8.5, 2; 4 Quake 8.12, 3.
Also started.—Jazz Boy 8.11, bracketed with winner, 5 Siegfried 8.1, 7 Recitation 8.0, 6 Mohua 8.0, 3 Hunting Step 7.7.
Won by one length, two lengths between second and third. Hunting Step fell and the rider (C. Goulsboro) was injured. Time, 1.14.
