COOL AND CHANGEABLE (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, February 18. Following is the Dominion Observatory’s special weather forecast for Southland: — Moderate to strong west to southwest winds. Weather cool and changeable, with some scattered showers, more especially in coastal areas. Temperatures cool to moderate. Seas rough, but gradually moderating. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Some scattered showers in the western and far southern districts, and at a few places east of the ranges; otherwise fair to fine. Temperatures cool to moderate. General Situation.—An anti-cydons now extends from the south-west Tasman Sea in a north-easterly direction, while the pressure is still rather low in the south and south-east. Winds. —Westerly to south-westerly predominating, moderate to strong but gradually decreasing. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas, and rather rough elsewhere on the West Coast and south of East Cape; moderate north of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh, but decreasing, south-westerly winds. Moderate to rather rough seas. At one o’clock this morning the weather was cold, but calm.
