NO INVERCARGILL VISIT MINISTER’S EXPLANATION. Mr J. E. Lovelock’s Dominion tour will not include Invercargill. Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., said yesterday that he had had representations made to him by many sporting bodies in Southland asking whether it would be possible for Mr Lovelock to visit Invercargill. As a result, he had sent the following telegram to the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry): “The sporting bodies of Southland are extremely disappointed that Invercargill has not been included in the itinerary of appearances of Mr Lovelock. Will you endeavour to rectify the matter?” The Minister’s reply, which arrived yesterday, stated: “I have made further representations to have Invercargill included in Mr Lovelock’s itinerary, but without success. Owing to the shortness of his stay in New Zealand it is impossible for him to visit Invercargill.”
