FIVE-DAY WEEK

GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS. A five-day week was introduced for as many of the Government offices as possible this week. Those offices which are not required to remain open for the convenience of the public will be closed this morning and every Saturday morning in future. Civil servants who are not required to work on Saturday mornings will begin duty at 8 a.m. instead of 8.30, and they will finish the day at 4.35 p.m. The offices which will be closed this morning include the Lands Department, the Department of Agriculture, the Employment Bureau, the Insurance Office, the Pensions Office, the Public Works Department, the State Forest Service and the Labour Department.
