As a result of elimination play the winner of the Scott Cup draughts tournament was J. Mclntosh, who, defeating J. Sutherland in the final, earned the right to challenge J. Hutchins, the present holder of the cup. This special challenge match will consist of ten games, the first series of which was played before a large and interested gathering of enthusiasts. The first two games, resulting in draws, were formed from the 10-15-24-19 opening, continuing into the lines of the Kelso double. The evening session comprised two games on the 10-15-23-19 opening, and ran early into a Whilter formation. Although both were drawn, some excellent play was seen, particularly in the second game, where Mr Hutchins re-

I "" —' trieved an apparently lost game by a neat variation of Payne’s draw. Play will be continued this afternoon and evening in the Invercargill Club’s rooms.' Those interested are invited to attend.
