RECORD REVENUE
Auckland Harbour Board (United Press Association.) Auckland, November 10. Large scale extensions and improvements to the harbour facilities at Auckland, including the dredging and fitting up of the east side of the central wharf to handle overseas vessels, the construction of a new wharf for small vessels at the west of Prince’s Wharf and the roofing over the centre roadway of Prince’s Wharf were approved by the Harbour Board, when the estimates for the coming year were adopted. The financial statements for the year ended September 30 by the treasurer showed a surplus of £35,580 in the revenue account. This showed harbour dues to be £414,179 from Waitemata harbour and £4981 from Manukau. The revenue had caused surprise, being a record. The chief items on the other side were:—lnterest, exchange, sinking funds and redemptions, £204,837; maintenance and working expenses. £148,944; depreciation, £6649. The balance in the general account was shown at £116,151 at September 30, compared with £129,080 last year. Expenditure items shown here and not occurring in the revenue account included the tug William C. Daldy. £38,455, and electric cranes, £21,150. The debit from Manukau harbour was £5lBO. The balance sheet showed, assets amounting to £5.697,098 and liabilities amounting to £2.826,408, leaving a surplus of £2,870,690.
