AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE

CONSTRUCTION MAY BE COMMENCED SOON. (United Press Association.) Auckland, October 18. “Before very long I hope to announce that we will be going on with the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge,” said Mr M. R. Hornibrook, managing director of the M. R. Homibrook Proprietary, Limited, Brisbane, who have arrived from Australia. Mr Hornibrook said he had come to New Zealand at the invitation of the Bridge Company and he would carry out further investigations into the project. Over a year ago the chief engineer to his company had visited New Zealand, being followed at a later date by his brother, Mr F. J. Hornibrook. Beyond saying that his brother had reported very favourably on the scheme, Mr Hornibrook said he could make no further announcement at present.
