WOMEN’S DIVISION

At the monthly meeting of the Riverton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs A. E. McNaughton presided over a good attendance of members. Mrs T. S. Smith, of Winton, gave a talk on the housekeeping scheme, and a demonstration of a novel and simple method of preserving fruit. Songs were sung by Mesdames L. Smart and Andersen, of Winton. The bloom competition was won by Mrs W. Smyth. Mrs A. Calder was second and Mrs T. Hogg third. DRUMMOND. At the monthly meeting of the Drummond branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union Mrs Kincaid presided over a good attendance. A motion of sympathy with Mrs S. Macdonald in her recent bereavement was carried. Kirs A. Robbie gave an interesting demonstration on the uses of old felt hats. Mrs Gordon Lindsay thanked Mrs Robbie for her instructive talk. The best bloom competition resulted: Miss Officer 1 and 3, Mrs R. Dun 2. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs A. Chilton Mrs T. Turner and Mrs W. Brown.
