A DISASTROUS FIRE

GLASSHOUSE AND PLANTS DESTROYED. (United Press Association.) Ashburton, October 17. Fire destroyed a dwelling and a glasshouse filled with plants owned by Mr G. A. Bushell, a gardener of Smithfield road. The house, of five rooms, which was not usually occupied, was insured for £5OO in Lloyd’s. The glasshouse and plants were valued at £250. Mr Bushell lit the fire to boil a preparation of turpentine, sulphur and beeswax for the grafting of trees, the building igniting in his absence.
