ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES

MOTOR CYCLE AND LORRY COLLIDE. RIDER INJURED. Injuries which necessitated his removal to the Southland Hospital were received by S Fisher, of Clifton, when the motor cycle he was riding collided with a motor lorry at Waikiwi at 1.30 on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the lorry, James William Leonard, of 122 Ettrick street, had signalled his attention of turning into the Waikiwi service station, but the signal was not noticed bj' Fisher and a collision between the two vehicles followed. Fisher, and Duncan McGregor, of Yarrow street, who was a pillion rider on the motor cycle, were both thrown off the machine. Fisher received injuries to his nose and face and was taken to the Southland Hospital. His injuries are not serious and yesterday it was reported that he was making satisfactory- progress. McGregor was not hurt.

FRACTURE OF LEG. Mrs Rosa Martin, an elderly woman, residing at 205 Yarrow street, was admitted to the Southland Hospital at 11.45 a.m. yesterday suffering from a fracture of her left leg. Mrs Martin was walking along a footpath, which was under repair in North Invercargill when she tripped over a stake and fell, injuring her leg.
