RAPID GROWTH

THE AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

Interesting statistics illustrating the rapid growth of the Automobile Association (Southland), both in membership and in the range of its activities, were quoted by Mr J. R. Haigh at the annual meeting of the association last night. Everyone connected with the association should feel proud of its work, he said, and the interests of the motorists were certainly very well looked after.

The figures quoted by Mr Haigh were as follows:—

Year. Members. Road Signs erected. 1922 138 no record 1923 204 no record ' 1924 323 no record 1925 455 no record 1926 850 120 1927 1080 170 1928 1150 270 1929 1256 no record 1930 1994 200 1931 2113 209 1932 1779 92 1933 1614 253 1934 1675 166 1935 2035 124 1936 2826 712
