August had been an exceptionally busy month, the medical superintendent at the Lake County Hospital (Dr W. A. Anderson) stated in his report. Twentyfour patients had been under treatment, which must be almost a record. For some of the time 16 patients—the hospital’s full complement—had been under treatment at the same time. Everything at the institution was working well, however. There had been two deaths during the month, while eight patients had been discharged.
