NAZI AIM OF EXPANSION

Eyes On Russia WORLD REACTION AWAITED Hope Of British Aid In “Crusade” (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) Berlin, Sept. 13. A significant view is attached to Herr Hitler's references to Russia during his several speeches at the Nazi Congress at Nuremberg, when he said that if Germany possessed the mineral wealth of the Urals and Siberia and the wheat fields of the Ukraine she would, under the Nazi regime, swim in plenty instead of fighting for existence. These references recall his statements in his book “Mein Kampf” (“My Struggle”), in which he says: “When we speak of new land we can think only of Russia; fate itself seems to point its finger for us there. That gigantic country is ripe for dissolution. The end of the Jewish rule in Russia will be the end of Russia as a State.” Commenting on the Nazi leaders’ tirades against Russia, a personage of high position in both old and new Germany admitted to the special correspondent of The Times that these would

have meant war within 24 hours in the days before 1914. How far the campaign would be allowed to go would depend, he said, to some extent on the world’s reaction to yesterday’s outburst, but it would not be surprising if Herr Hitler brought his crusade of antiBolshevik purity to a crescendo with some startling announcement. Germany's first object was to secure a weakening of the Franco-Soviet Pact, said the high personage. In any case she hopes to win Britain’s adherence to an anti-Bolshevist crusade under German leadership; thus financial and economic support might be ensured for Germany where other arguments failed. Peace Would Be Sacrificed. Herr Hitler delivered a rousing speech on Zeppelin Common last night to a crowd estimated at 150,000. Wave after wave of cheers rolled out. “Our only prayer all these years has been for external and internal peace, that we may build up our Reich after our own ideas, not after those of the Bolshevik Jews,” said the Fuhrer. “Should our enemies once more dare to attack they will be felled to the ground. We will never hesitate to sacrifice peace in order to put down disturbances to peace. This the whole nation knows.” Obviously alluding to women soldiers in the Soviet Red Army, Herr Hitler, addressing the Nazi women’s organization, said: “We shall see that there will not be detachments of handgrenade girls, women sharpshooters and the like in Germany. From our standpoint the woman who rears children and thus safeguards the existence and the future of our people has done more than any learned woman.” Herr Hitler ridiculed the view held abroad that the German woman was being treated as a slave. “What some people regard as a yoke is held by others to be a blessing.” he said. “Nature acted wisely in allotting to man the task of protecting the family and the nation.” Jews Described As Mongrels 83,500 EMIGRANTS SINCE ADVENT OF NAZIS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Berlin, September 11. About 83,500 Jews have left Germany since the Nazis came into power in 1933, according to a Jewish publication. An additional 2000 Jews changed their religion. Addressing the medical profession the Reich Medical Leader (Dr Gerhard Wagner) described semi-Jews and quarter-Jews as “a mongrel race which, biologically and politically, was undesirable and should be extinguished as soon as possible.” Fiften members of the forbidden Society for Bible Research were sentenced to imprisonment for refusal to serve in the army. RIDICULE HEAPED ON GOEBBELS “DWARF WITH CROOKED LEGS.” (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) London, September 13. The Moscow correspondent of The Daily Telegraph reports that the newspaper Pravda, in a violent attack on the Nazi Minister of Propaganda (Dr Josef Goebbels), who is lame, says: “This dwarf with crooked legs and an enormous, twisted caricature of a nose —a complete clinical specimen of the degenerate! We quite deliberately mention the loathsome appearance of flhis, the chief theoretician of German

Fascism; this, the apostle of the purity of the German race!” SOUTH AFRICA ALARMED “CANNOT CONSIDER CESSION OF TERRITORY.” (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Cape Town, September 11. South Africa is greatly alarmed at the turn of events at Nuremberg. The Cape Times points out that every member of the Union Government in the past few years has clearly stated that South Africa cannot consider the cession of South-West Africa or Tanganyika and says: “It is difficult to imagine, even on the wildest grounds of world policy, how the South African view can be over-ridden.”
