WEEKLY HOURS REDUCED

Mental Hospital Staffs (United Press Association.) Auckland, September 12. Arrangements have been completed for a reduction of the working hours of employees in mental hospitals. The Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser) stated that it had been difficult to arrange, but fortunately the Public Service Association had rendered cordial assistance, its general secretary, Mr F. W. Millar, discussing matters with the staffs. The scheme, which has been practically unanimously adopted, involves a long and a short day alternately with every third day off and every sixth month off, making the time 41J hours weekly spread over a year.
